Vesely mine

OJSC “Vesely mine” is located in Choisky area of the Republic of Altay, its main part is Sinuhinskoe gold deposit, which covers about 8,53 sq. km. This region has developed infrastructure – electric networks, net of roads.

Sinyuhinskoe gold deposit is of a scarn type. Ore bodies are sheet and lens-shaped with complex morphology. The length along strike is 200-250 m and up to 200 m in vertical extent. Width of bodies ranges from 3 to 8 m reaching 25 m. Ores are free-milling and rich, the average grade of gold is 9,2 g/t.

Mining of placer gold on the deposit area started in 1923. Hard-rock gold mining started from 1953. Reserves of C1+C2 categories of Sinuhinskoe gold deposit are estimated at 18 tones of gold, P1+P2 resources – at 70 tones of gold. The annual mining is 400-450 kg of gold. Sibir plans to increase the output to 1,2 - 1,5 tones of gold by reconstruction of the processing plant and underground mine. The company also plans to start using new technologies for utilizable tailings.

Today OJSC “Vesely mine” is the only operating company with open and underground mining in the Republic of Altay.
